Although tiny, Andorra contains a mixture of influences which make for a diverse culture. Perhaps this is not surprising, since this Principality was co-owned for many centuries by France and Spain, with whom it shares its borders. Situated at the height of the Pyrenees, the whole country is mountainous, comprising of deep valleys and high peaks. You cannot fail to be impressed by the stunning scenery which surrounds you wherever you are. Andorra has enjoyed enormous prosperity since it gained independence, and it benefits from being a year-round tourist destination. The ski resorts can be much cheaper than those of the neighbouring Alps and duty-free shopping is just as big an attraction. Also free from tax are businesses and investments, and the banking sector in particular contributes significantly to the economy.
